Corning is committed to growing with China’s rapidly expanding thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) market. Opened in March 2008, Corning’s liquid crystal display (LCD) glass substrate manufacturing facility in Beijing continues Corning’s trend of being the first to respond to emerging local markets. The Beijing facility is focused on supplying China’s panel makers with glass substrates primarily for information technology applications, but as the local TFT market expands in size and scope, Corning will be ready to meet the demand. China is currently the world’s fastest-growing end market for LCD TVs.
Corning strongly believes in working with local communities to create a better, more prosperous China. Throughout the year, the Display Technologies team participates in several volunteer activities in Beijing and in surrounding regions.
Corning is also committed to developing local employees to lead Corning Display Technologies' operations in China. Today, 50 percent of the senior leadership is Chinese; that number will increase in the coming years. Corning will continue to invest in the China market so we grow with our customers and develop products they require.
