Corning One of the Ten Most Competitive Telecom Brands in China

Beijing, CHINA, October 23, 2009 – Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) has been recognized as one of the top ten competitive telecom brands in China at the 2009 China Optical Communications Development and Competitiveness Forum (ODC’09) being held in Beijing.  Corning, along with other award recipients including Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell and Ericsson, is leading the infrastructure buildup for the fast-developing telecommunications network in China.

ODC ’09 was jointly organized by the China Institute of Communications, the Asia-Pacific Optical Communication Committee and the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, to trigger dynamic analysis and discussion of optical communications technology and its market development in China. Presented at the forum’s opening ceremony Corning received the award for its overall industry competitiveness and was evaluated on a complex set of criteria including 73 indexes ranging from business size, growth rate, management and business efficiency, and enterprise culture in the period from 2008 to 2009.
