Corning recieves "Caring Corporation" award
January 2008
Corning and its employees take pride in improving the quality of life in the communities where the company operates. It’s part of being a good corporate citizen. In recognition of Corning’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts in China, the company was presented a “Caring Corporation” award at the January “2007 Poverty Alleviation China Round” in Beijing.
Corning received the award from the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) in conjunction with Fortune China magazine. The recognition was part of CFPA’s annual commendation drive to thank corporations and individuals for their contributions toward alleviating poverty in China.
Poverty can be addressed in many ways. Corning is making a difference in rural China through its support of small businesses, schools, libraries and by funding the construction of a road that provides more than 300 people better access to commercial centers.
The CFPA award is the third of its kind that Corning has received for its CSR activities in China since 2006.
