Optical Fiber
Corning® ClearCurve optical fiber with
nanoStructures-based fiber technology is the industry leader in macrobend
performance and is compatible with current optical fibers, equipment, practices
and procedures. ClearCurve fiber better maintains attenuation during smaller
radii bends, than legacy fiber products. This fiber meets and exceeds the bend
performance in ITU-T G.657 Tables A and B while remaining fully compatible with
ITU-T G.652.D and the installed base. This unique fiber design allows network
planners to design optical fiber into much more challenging installations and
environments.
Cable
ClearCurve Drop Cables solve the challenges associated with deployments using
nanoStructures technology. ClearCurve Indoor/Outdoor Rugged Drop Cable
can be directly stapled to wall studs and rafters with standard cable staples
and hardware-store variety staple guns. It outperforms typical RG-6 coaxial
cables due to higher bandwidth capacity, smaller diameter, lighter weight and
smaller minimum bend radius of 5 mm (0.2 in.).
The ClearCurve Compact Drop Cable is an indoor riser-rated (OFNR),
small-profile, durable and flexible cable optimized for applications to and
within the living unit allowing it to outperform CAT 5e cable. It can
accomplish tight turns to a minimum bend radius of 5 mm (0.2 in.) with minimal
bend loss and can be run under carpet, along door frames and molding, in
raceway or in micro-duct. Available in neutral coloring to meet aesthetic
indoor deployment needs.
Hardware

Corning ClearCurve fiber optic hardware and equipment solutions include drop
cable assemblies and fiber distribution terminals.
Corning's ClearCurve drop cable assemblies utilize ClearCurve rugged drop cable
and ClearCurve compact drop cable with its factory-termination process to
provide quicker installations with low connector insertion loss. The assemblies
create a complete plug-and-play installation by simply placing the ClearCurve
drop cable assembly between the living unit and the fiber distribution
terminal.
The ClearCurve fiber distribution terminals offer rugged, low-profile
interconnects between the distribution network and the indoor/outdoor drop
cables for multidwelling unit applications. Our 12- and 24-port ClearCurve
fiber distribution terminal accepts ClearCurve drop cables and
field-installable connectors and can be wall or pole mounted. This terminal,
designed and qualified for indoor and outdoor applications, provides simple
fiber routing and preconnectorized inputs for quick and easy installation. It
also allows for additional drops to be added without disturbing existing
customers.
