Hands-On Installation Course for Connectorization of Multimode and Single-Mode Optical Local Area Networks

Description
TS LAN 300 is a three-day hands-on course that prepares craftsmen for various aspects of fiber optic cable installation in a local area network environment. Mechanical splicing, connector installation and acceptance testing are taught with extensive hands-on practice.

Student/Teacher Ratio: 1:8
Instruction: 90% hands-on
BICSI Continuing Education Credit (CEC): 15 hours RCDD; 15hours Installer; 15 hours Technician; 15 hours Certified Trainer
Class Size: Maximum of 15 students
Class Time: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Class Length: 3 days

Curriculum

  • Students mock up a simple point to point fiber optic cabling system
  • Theory and principles of fiber optics
  • Cable types and manufacturing techniques: loose tube and tight-buffered cables
  • Termination methods for field-installable connectors, pigtails and preconnectorized assemblies
  • Cable preparation techniques for splicing and/or connectorization
  • Single-fiber mechanical splicing with the Corning Cable Systems CamSplice™ Mechanical Splice
  • Installation of the Corning Cable Systems multimode UniCam® ST® Compatible, and SC Connectors.
  • Installation of anaerobic connectors.
  • Optical attenuation test set procedures: one, two and three jumper references
  • Use and operation of the Corning Cable Systems Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)
  • Network testing and documentation: procedures and requirements
  • Safety: chemical safety, laser safety and fiber handling precautions

Discounts and Cancellation Policy: Late cancellations and class no-shows for registered students will incur charges.  A credit card number must be supplied 6 or more business days in advance to honor any/all discount(s) on classes.   • Sales tax is not included in per student pricing and will be added in applicable regions.
