Hands-On Installation Technology Course for Optical Single-Mode Access Networks Used in Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-to-the Business (FTTB) Deployments - Collectively Called "FTTx"
Description
A five-day hands-on course that prepares craftsmen for all aspects of fiber optic cable installation in an optical access network (FTTx) environment. Single-mode fiber types are covered. Cable placement, fusion and mechanical splicing, cable termination (connector installation and pigtail splicing) and acceptance testing are taught with extensive hands-on practice. Students build, test and troubleshoot a complete single-mode system in this class. Also covered is the use of equipment, hardware and procedures pertaining to Passive Optical Network (PON) applications.

Instruction: 80% hands-on
Class Times: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

• Hands-on installation of a wire mesh and split pulling grips
Use and Operation of the Corning Cable Systems OTDR
• Uses, principle of operation and typical display
Splicing
• Fusion and mechanical splicing: OptiSplice One, OptiSplice CDS, OptiSplice Ribbon, M90e, and CamSplice™ Mechanical Splice
• Fusion spliced terminations: Fuselite® II Termination System
Termination
• Termination Types: Field-Installable, Pigtail Splicing and Preconnectorized Assemblies

Want a private class at your facility? Class price for a private TS ANI 500 classes held at the customer’s facility is $1,950.00 per student plus instructor’s expenses. Expenses include Corning Cable Systems instructor’s air fare, meals, hotel, car rental and incidental expenses and will be billed at actual cost. (Please note: In order to schedule a class at your facility, you must have a minimum of 6 students.)
