Program Description: All appeals filed on or after January 23, 2012 are now subject to the new Appeal Rules of practice before the Board of Patent Appeals & Interferences. Important changes to the Appeal Rules and related patent prosecution strategies will be discussed. Furthermore, “Third Party Submission of Prior Art” and “Citation of Prior Art in a Patent File” [i.e, Sections 8 and 6 of the America Invents Act (AIA), respectively] will go into effect on September 16, 2012. New procedures and strategies relating to these sections of the AIA will also be reviewed.

CLE Information
North Carolina participants are invited to join by live interactive simultaneous audio and visual teleconference accompanied with net meeting in a classroom setting. Accreditation for 1.5 CLE "General" credit hours will be applied for through the NC State Bar Continuing Legal Education Board. Attendance is confirmed both visually and by sign-in/sign-out sheet. There must always be more than 1 attorney attending the Hickory CLE classroom simulcast presentation.
New York participants are invited to join the live presentation, located at Corning, NY, in a classroom setting. This course is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced New York attorneys and has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.5 credit hours toward the "Areas of Professional Practice" requirement. Attendance is confirmed both visually and by sign-in/sign-out sheet.
Throughout the entire course, NC and NY attendees will be able to (1) participate in live interactive discussions, (2) visually see each other in their respective conference room, and (3) view the live PowerPoint presentation as presented by Mr. Stephen S. Wentsler. Each conference room location will have a sign-in/sign-out sheet and evaluation forms. The evaluation forms must be completed at the end of the course prior to departing the classroom and submitted to the CLE coordinator.
There is no fee for this course.
NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM DURING THE PROGRAM PRESENTATION.
