Free-standing and Wall-mounted Frame
Main distribution frames can be arranged vertically or vertically / horizontally and are available as wall-mounted or free-standing variants.
The choice of the distribution frames depends on the location as well as on the number of subscribers that have to be connected. Corning Cable Systems recommends that merely vertical distributors should be used for less than 5,000 - 10,000 subscribers to be connected. If the number of subscribers is higher, the need for cross jumpering increases. We therefore recommend using a vertical / horizontal distribution frame which best supports cross jumpering between the horizontal distribution blocks. By comparing the option for cross jumpering of both MDF types, the difference becomes obvious: in a distribution frame with 13 horizontals there are 12 cross jumpering options, whereas most of the vertical distribution frames offer cross-jumpering only above and below the vertical distribution blocks.
