Harrodsburg team helps Habitat for Humanity
June 2009
Wielding hammers and saws, dozens of employees from the Corning Display Technologies plant in Harrodsburg, Ky., helped build a house for a family in need as part of a project run by Habitat for Humanity. Ground-breaking took place in late March, and with the help of other community volunteers over the Summer and Fall, the home should be ready for the family to move in by November.
To complete the project, the plant’s Community Outreach Council (COC) pulled members from all areas of the facility to participate and sign up for three half-day construction shifts. When the last shift is done, the Harrodsburg plant employees will have contributed 176 hours of construction work.
Corning’s Harrodsburg Plant employees’ volunteer work extends beyond this project. The plant’s COC plans plenty of opportunities for employees to support United Way, the March of Dimes, the American Diabetes Association, and more. The plant also hosts career day visits for local students and gives holiday gifts to families in need.
