Display Technologies Leaders Put Construction Skills to Work

Habitat for HumanityA record number of Corning employees volunteered with Habitat for Humanity this summer to build a new home for Sheri McCaslin of Addison, New York, and her family. The volunteers, most who had little to no experience in construction, consisted of 80 members of the Corning Display Technologies Extended Leadership Team.

Employees from around the world, including China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the United States, volunteered their services on construction day.

Habitat for Humanity is an international organization that builds homes for persons in need. For this project, Shari McCaslin will be the recipient of the new home. Shari’s son Justin has cerebral palsy, and the family currently lives in a two-story apartment which is not handicapped accessible. The new home, constructed by the Corning volunteers, is designed to specifically meet his needs, making life easier for Justin and his family.

James Clappin, president of Corning Display Technologies, said the large volunteer turnout demonstrates Corning’s role as a conscientious corporate citizen. “This effort is another fine example of how the people of Display Technologies are making a positive impact on the communities where we live and work.”
