Corning’s Lina Echeverria to be Profiled in Diversity Journal
"I want the researchers [at Corning] to have the creativity of van Gogh, but lead the life of Michelangelo." This is the type of mantra that has made Dr. Lina M. Echeverria a truly invaluable asset to Corning Incorporated for several years. Although she is currently the Director of exploratory Markets and Technologies and Strategic Growth, her inventions at Corning have led to seven patents and she has published more than 30 scientific papers throughout her career.
Another, more recent honor to be added to Dr. Echeverria’s list is a personal profile set to be published in Diversity Journal’s 7th annual “Women worth Watching” issue. Nominated by their colleagues, peers, and mentors for their initiative and achievements, the women featured in the magazine convey a certain purpose and drive, and represent diversity within their spheres of influence.
Dr. Richard O’Leary, director of human resources, Science and Technology, and author of Dr. Echeverria’s nomination, described her as someone who is recognized and respected throughout the Corning Technology community. “She actively advocates diversity of ideas and inclusion, making her stand out as a leader in our multicultural research environment,” he stated. “By embracing diversity and helping to create an environment where people feel free to be themselves, Dr. Echeverría has been able to foster creativity and innovation by encouraging free exchange of all viewpoints.”
