Corning Gilbert Introduces the Newest Member of its Theft Deterrent Line of Terminators
Glendale, AZ, August 1, 2005 – Corning Gilbert, a subsidiary of Corning
Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) introduces the newest members of its theft deterrent
line of terminators. Corning Gilbert's new terminators bring new features and
benefits to the already largest line of terminator products in the CATV
industry.
The new family of theft deterrent terminators is designed to provide optimal performance in typical field installations. They
provide a weather-resistant, high performance termination when installed in
less than optimal environments.
With moisture being a leading cause of terminator problems, the new line of Corning Gilbert terminators focuses on the
elimination of moisture entry paths. Typical terminators allow moisture to
enter the rear of the terminator and migrate to the male interface, causing
corrosion and leading to intermodulation (CPD) issues. To prevent this from
happening, the interior components of Corning Gilbert's terminators are
machined from solid brass. No press fits of components are used to block water
migration. There is an o-ring between the rotating components of the connector.
This provides a fully weather-resistant terminator even when the drop cable is
not parked on the rear of the terminator.
By using all brass material and nickel plating for all exposed parts, the interaction that occurs between dissimilar metals is
eliminated. This prevents the terminator from "locking up" and being easily
removed even in highly corrosive environments.
The Corning Gilbert Theft Proof Terminator is patent pending. For availability and ordering information, please contact Customer
