Employees donate calendars to a school for the blind
April 2007
Chengdu Corning Cable Systems (CDCCS) employees, after reading an article on how a school for the blind needed thick paper for writing in Braille, made it their initiative to donate calendars to help support local students.
During the three-month drive, employees collected more than 200 calendars for the Chengdu Special School—far exceeding organizers’ expectations. This project became so large that Corning entities across the region answered the call for donations
To provide as many pages as possible, participants called on family members and extended relatives to support the cause. By donating paper, Corning employees were able to save the school the cost of a semester’s worth of workbooks.
