Program Description: The America Invents Act legislation recently passed into law in the US provides new “prior user rights” which can be valuable to defend against later filed patents. This course will focus on the legal requirements for establishing prior user rights, evidentiary proof needed to assert such rights, and advice and guidance on how companies might best approach archiving the proper documentation to optimize and preserve their own prior user rights.

All participants must be registered for the program. Seating is limited and registration is required. Registration for the program closes on January 16, 2012. To register call 607.974.0044 or 828.901.6730, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
CLE Information:
North Carolina participants are invited to join by live interactive simultaneous audio and visual teleconference accompanied with net meeting in a classroom setting. Accreditation for 1.5 CLE "General" credit hours will be applied for through the NC State Bar Continuing Legal Education Board. Attendance is confirmed both visually and by sign-in/sign-out sheet. There must always be more than 1 attorney attending the Hickory CLE classroom simulcast presentation.
New York participants are invited to join the live presentation, located at Corning, NY, in a classroom setting. This course is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced New York attorneys and has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.5 credit hours toward the "Areas of Professional Practice" requirement. Attendance is confirmed both visually and by sign-in/sign-out sheet.
Throughout the entire course, NC and NY attendees will be able to (1) participate in live interactive discussions, (2) visually see each other in their respective conference room, and (3) view the live PowerPoint presentation as presented by Messgrs. Lorentz, Beyer, Tent, and Rericha. Each conference room location will have a sign-in/sign-out sheet and evaluation forms. The evaluation forms must be completed at the end of the course prior to departing the classroom and submitted to the CLE coordinator.
There is no fee for this course.
NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM DURING THE PROGRAM PRESENTATION.
